This Privacy Policy describes how Trippool ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Trippool Driver mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1 Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the App.

• Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo when you register
• Identity and vehicle documents — national ID, driver's licence, vehicle registration, and insurance documents for verification purposes
• Location data — precise GPS location while the App is in use, to match you with nearby riders and provide navigation
• Background location — collected during active rides to track trip progress and calculate fares
• Device information — device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
• Trip data — pickup and dropoff locations, trip duration, distance, and fare information
• Payment information — EcoCash wallet details for processing earnings payouts
• Communications — messages sent through the in-app messaging feature between you and riders
• Usage data — app interactions, feature usage, and crash reports to improve the service

2 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve the Trippool platform, including to:

• Verify your identity and eligibility to drive on the platform
• Match you with ride requests in your area
• Provide turn-by-turn navigation to pickup and dropoff locations
• Calculate fares and process earnings through EcoCash
• Send push notifications for new ride requests, messages, and account updates
• Detect and prevent fraud, unsafe behaviour, and platform abuse
• Calculate driver ratings and performance metrics
• Provide customer support when you contact us
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to law enforcement requests

3 Location Data

Your location is shared with riders during matched and active rides so they can track your arrival. Location data is stored with trip records for safety, dispute resolution, and fare calculation purposes.

You can revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings, but doing so will prevent you from receiving ride requests or completing trips.

4 Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With riders — your first name, profile photo, vehicle details, and real-time location are shared with riders during matched and active rides
• With service providers — we use Supabase for data storage, Google Maps for navigation, and EcoCash for payment processing. These providers are bound by data protection agreements
• For legal compliance — we may disclose information to authorities when required by law or to protect the safety of users
• In a business transfer — if Trippool is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction

5 Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Trip records are retained for a minimum of 12 months for safety and dispute resolution purposes. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6 Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on our database, and access controls limiting who can view your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7 Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time
• Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority

8 Children's Privacy

The Trippool Driver App is intended solely for individuals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will immediately terminate their account and delete associated data.

9 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via push notification or email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
